IELTS ACADEMIC

This measures if your English language proficiency level is suitable for an academic environment. 

It helps you to:
•Study at an undergraduate level or postgraduate level anywhere in the world
•Apply for Student Route visa (Tier 4) at a university that is a Student route (Tier 4) Sponsor in the UK
•Work in an English-speaking country for a professional organisation.

IELTS GNERAL

 This helps to prove you have practical, everyday English language skills. IELTS General Training measures English language proficiency in a practical, everyday context. The tasks and tests reflect English language skills that you nee in  both workplace and social situations.

It helps you to:
•Migrate to English-Speaking Country on work grounds.

• To train or Study at below Degree level

IELTS Paper or Online?- All about the Test

You can choose from a wide range of test dates in The Gambia to take your IELTS test on paper or on a computer in the British official test centres.

Test format
IELTS has four sections- Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.

Test time

  • Listening (30 minutes)
  • Reading (60 minutes)
  • Writing (60 minutes)
  • Speaking (11-14 minutes)

The Listening, Reading and Writing tests take 2 hours 40 minutes and are completed on the same day.

The Speaking test takes between 11-14 minutes and can be completed up to a week before or after the other tests.

Required Identification Documents

On the day of the test, test takers must present their original, valid and signed passport; or National ID (for identification purposes only). Please note that you will not be allowed to enter the exam hall without the original ID that you used during your registration.

Test takers under the age of 18 will have to provide the written consent by a parent or guardian in order to apply for a test place. Please note that IELTS is not recommended for test takers under the age of 16. For any special requirements, you have to apply for the paper-based exam. For more details please contact the centre.
